The Countdown....

The time is fast approaching.  Every day he wakes up with the startling thought of "what day is it?"  "is today the day?" then reality sets in.  Yet, the countdown is still ticking away in his brain.   This whole week will be one of anticipation, anxiety, reliving pain within his mind and secretly over thinking whether this is the right decision.... even though we are sure that it is.  Pain will be more tolerable with the freedom of being hands free - eventually - and walking on a Prosthesis.  Not having to put on a brace and two boots and pick up crutches to move.
Today we met with the NDIS to go through the application.  Developing the 1st NDIS plan.  It is a priority because the operation is in 6 days.  There are so many "unknown's", not just within one's mind but within this system.  It's rather bizzare, but knowing they are actually giving Matt the opportunity to have a 1st plan in play to assist him in the long term, is brilliant!

We tried for one last refinance (now approved as of 10.1.17).   Our fence is falling down; our kitchen is falling apart; Matt and I both need new cars; Tulley is still in school and there are many costs involved in Year 11 and 12 (not only having dependent children).  Basically, everything has had it's day and we are trying to pull things together, with a little help from our friends.  I mean, literally! Physical helping fix things!!!!   They are only material things, yet having a family and children and mortgage.... well, it's part of the lifestyle we have chosen for this time.   The real Thing is, we have gained so so so much within ourselves and our lives and our blessings in this past 5 and a bit years yet on the financial scale we suck!!!  Budgeting, 2nd jobs whatever and a new career for Matt has seen our income drop by at least 1/2 or more BUT the gain as people and our relationships and all of those meaningful, real things that make the difference, has no financial impact.  It is incredible.  We are so blessed.

That's a background, and here's a snapshot of the awesome crowd that crowdfunded for us on Sunday 8th January!  What a lot of legends :)

So, because most people would never see Matt's withering limb, as it's always under long pants, here is a pic of the poor wasted little fella.  Not quite solid enough to keep him going; not quite sturdy enough to keep him balanced.  His challenges were quite a challenge yet he never gave up!
